The Den Isn’t Always filled with Lions

Many times in our lives, we may feel that all is lost. However, the story of Daniel in the lion's den tells us about the fulfillment of God's promises and the rewards to be received through faithfulness.   King Darius was the ruler of Babylon and had appointed several men to assist him in the governing of the kingdom. Daniel, who was appointed to be the leader of the advisors, was a man who believed in the God of Israel and followed His commandments. For this, the other men despised Daniel and wanted to destroy him.   The men plotted against Daniel. They told King Darius to make a new law that would put to death anyone who worshiped or prayed to other gods other than the king. If someone was caught doing this,...

Stop Crying to God and Start Moving

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on (Exodus 14:15)   We are all familiar with the movie the Ten Commandments. The movie depicts an abridged version of the movement of the Israelites out of Egypt and into the promised land.  Pharaoh freed the  Israelites after a series of plagues; however, he changed his mind and Pharaoh ordered over 600 of this soldiers and chariots to pursue the Isrealites. When the people of Israel saw the soldiers and their chariots approaching, they cried out to Moses. They accused Moses for bringing them into the desert to die. They had preferred to have remained in slavery rather than dying by the hands of Pharaoh in the desert. When the Lord heard these cries, He responded:   15 Then...

When You can’t Pray…..JUST PRAISE

We are all sinners and we face many struggles and trials in our lifetime. Our struggles are packaged differently. There are people with broken relationships, family turmoil, insolvent debts and incurable diseases. There are dark moments in our lives where we cannot even see the light. Darkness surrounds us and our faith weakens. There are times where we may even doubt our existence and purpose in life. But God's love is always here and He would never forsake us.  Nehemiah 8:10 states, "Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength". PICK UP yourself and thank God because you are STILL HERE. You didn't happen by chance and the unfortunate circumstances that are in your life is God's way of teaching and preparing you for the blessings that are...

“If” May Never Come

There is one word that can prevent us from ever achieving any of our dreams and desires. It may throw a gray blanket over our goals and aspirations. What we think about achieving may not even see the light of day only because we utter this one word. It is a very small word—but there is an adage we say in the Caribbean,  "small axe does cut down big tree"; in this case this small word can end big dreams. That word is the word "if".   If...

Listen to the Inner Voice

I have read and heard about many people leaving their day job and following their passion—and every day I would go to work and really understand what they meant. We put so much stress on staying in a job to satisfy our EXTERNAL needs, but not doing what we want to do in order to satisfy our INTERNAL needs. Often, when we believe our external needs are met and its time to satisfy our internal needs, we are OLD.   In the quiet moment we hear a voice that tells us that we can do better, achieve greater and move faster. If we do not physically hear that word of encouragement from another person, that quiet voice within us validates what we can do. If it can be conceived and we believe—we...

Be Not Afraid

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). So many of us are just afraid. We are afraid of the dark; we are afraid to be alone; we are afraid of not being loved; and the list can go on.   When would we stop being afraid? Would we stop being afraid when we are old and gray and could hardly move? What is preventing us from applying for another job when we know that our current job is a dead end one; what is preventing us from releasing ourselves from an unhealthy relationship or marriage when we know it only causes unhappiness; what is preventing us from exploring new and uncharted possibilities that can significantly change...
